Collective Museum of Sharjah Memory I United Arab Emirates.

The Collective Museum by Mohamed Fariji is a citizen-led museum dedicated to the public memory of cities. A continuation of the artist’s work in Sharjah in 2017, this installation is a museum of the collective memory of Sharjah, created with the participation of local students, artists and citizens. The museum hosts objects and documents that are about to disappear, therefore tracing a history of what could no longer be. The museum installation takes the form of a series of participative actions of research, collection and recuperation of documents, archives, photographs, objects, films and other memories, embodying traces of a city’s life (e.g. stations, factories) all about to disappear, already abandoned, soon to be closed down or at risk of being demolished.
